Chase Anthony Brame is a visiting English Instructor in the Department of English Linguistics and Literature for the 2023-2024 academic year. He was selected by Georgetown University and the U.S. Department of State for this visiting fellowship which is facilitated through the U.S. Embassy in Budapest.

He is originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, and he completed his Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Greensboro College in 2017. He wrote his MA Thesis on “Progressive Methods in Teaching English as an International Language”, a paper which critically analyzed the contemporary facets of English as a Foreign Language pedagogy in the wake of the rapid spread of English as a global lingua franca.

Chase has taught in a variety of contexts around the world. In the previous academic year, Chase was an English Language Fellow at the Kazimierz Pulaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom, Poland. From 2018 to 2022, Chase taught as an English instructor at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), where he taught English for Academic Purposes and worked in the university writing center. At UAEU, Chase led numerous workshops on academic writing for both undergraduate and graduate students. Chase began his tertiary English teaching career in the U.S. at Auburn Global, the English as a Second Language program for international students at Auburn University.

His research interests include English as an International Language/Lingua Franca, Multilingual Writing, Written Corrective Feedback techniques for teachers, and active learning in the EFL classroom. In his free time, Chase enjoys traveling, playing soccer, and exploring new places with his wife and two children, Alex and Kat.
